The Number Seven

15 Jun

Sam Razak, one of our first and most loyal customers, tagged us last week in her blog and named us one of her faves! As part of the game, we now have to nominate 7 other blogs which we think are awesome. Since both the Stoodlerist and the Scourist spend an immense amount of time on the interweb, this is no mean feat.

But the Scourist has had to admit that she is as much of a geek as the Stoodlerist is not.. and thus.. our tastes do differ. It was quite hard trying to find favourite websites that made both our lists. But after much (okay.. some!) deliberation, we’ve decided to take off our individual hats, put our big Stoodle hat on together and give you this: 7 websites that inspire Stoodle as a project. Hope this is okay, Sam :)

Jon Burgerman

jonburgerman

This is the man that inspired the Stoodlerist’s doodling dreams. Once, the great Burger even mentioned the Stoodlerist in his Twitter feed! We are reliably told the Stoodlerist walked on air for days.

DoodleSplatter

doodlesplatter

This is Jeremy Brautman’s dedicated blogography of Jon Burgerman. Everything about our favourite Nottingham doodler, from the other JB on the block.

Linty Fresh

lintyfresh

When StoodleTee grows up, it wants to sell awesome t-shirts and be at various exhibitions. Just like Linty Fresh. Also we think Eric Terry, Linty Fresh’s owner, is Oh-Em-Gee awesome. His blog talks about the business side of things, too – which the Scourist has on (her very, very limited and short) RSS Feed list.

EightyFourCube

84cube

And a shout out to our fellow Malaysians: EightyFourCube – our favourite art collective. They design, they music, they gallery. They therefore rock.

Gama-Go

gamago

Go Gama-Go Go! Okay, I couldn’t resist. But what a cool name is that, and even cooler are the range of products these guys market! A bit further up the evolution chain compared to Stoodle, but a benchmark nonetheless.

Springfield Punx

springfield

If you love the Simpsons as much as we do, then you’ll love Springfield Punx! Artist Dean Fraser Simpsonises the characters we often see in pop culture – and there’s even a wallpaper to SpringfieldPunx your desktop! See if you can find Risk Astley in there. (The Scourist requests a humble Ho! from those who remember Rick Astley the first time round that he was famous. No one? Yeah.. thought so…)

XKCD

xkcd

And to complete the list of seven, the Scourist is sneaking in this gem of a geekculture webcomic. It has romance. It has sarcasm. It has Maths! It has language. It is genius.

Sam: Yes! Someone else who remembers Rick Astley and his magical trenchcoat!

Jeremy: We’re even more honoured that you dropped by! Quite a few Oh_Em_Gee moments in both Stoodle offices, I tell you.
